Industria cinematografica britanica a sarbatorit cea de-a 72-a editie a premiilor BAFTA, desfasurata la Royal Albert Hall din Londra. Asa cum era de asteptat, comedia "The Favorite" a lui Yorgos Lanthimos - care a pornit din start cu 12 nominalizari - a dominat seara cu sapte victorii.
Filmul "Roma", regizat de Alfonso Cuaron, a obtinut premiul pentru cel mai bun film al anului, regizorul primind la randul sau si trofeele pentru cel mai bun din categoria sa si cel mai prolific in imagine de film sau cinematografie.
Rami Malek a fost desemnat cel mai bun actor principal, iar Mahershala Ali cel mai bun actor in rol secundar. "A Star is Born", filmul regizat de Bradley Cooper in care starul joaca alaturi de Lady Gaga, a primit premiul BAFTA pentru cea mai buna melodie originala.
"Black Panther" a castigat premiul pentru cele mai reusite efecte speciale, singura categorie la care a fost nominalizat.
